Mary O’Malley, Richard Lurk II to help strengthen
group’s market presence in Southwest Florida

Sarasota, Florida (September 30, 2020) – The SVN Commercial Advisory Group in Sarasota, Fla., is welcoming two new team members. The move is part of the group’s overall strategy to bolster its coverage of the Southwest Florida commercial real estate market.

Mary O’Malley

comes to the SVN Commercial Advisory Group from a prominent, national real estate firm, where she specialized in self-storage. Among her accomplishments was a recent sale of a $3 million property.

Originally from the Washington, D.C., area, O’Malley graduated from Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania, where she studied business administration. She moved to Florida three years ago to work in commercial real estate.

One of her specialties at the SVN Commercial Advisory Group will be industrial properties, a market she believes has a promising future.

“Based on my research during the last couple of months, it’s growing,” she said. “People with businesses are looking at having more warehouse space to ship from. Businesses like Amazon will be needing more space. I think there’s a lot of opportunity for growth in general.”

In addition to her real estate career, O’Malley is a master chocolatier who studied the trade in Torino, Italy.

Richard Lurk II

will also provide brokerage services for the SVN Commercial Advisory Group. In addition to commercial real estate brokerage, Lurk has an extensive background in tax consulting and cost segregation analysis. Cost segregation is a strategy designed to help reduce income tax liabilities for companies that build, acquire, renovate, or expand real estate.

A tax manager who has worked in the industry since 2013, Lurk received a doctorate degree in law from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He also holds degrees in accounting and business administration. His specialties include policy analysis, accounting, and tax research.

Before attending law school, Lurk served eight years in the United States Air Force Academy, where he was a technical sergeant.

These two additions to the team are part of a strategy to provide more thorough coverage in the Sarasota and Bradenton areas. A sister brokerage in Tampa, which opened recently, is also undergoing expansion under the new plan.

“We’re experiencing significant growth right now, which will help us to provide peak service and coverage of these areas,” said Matt Christian, Managing Director of the SVN Commercial Advisory Group. “As part of that growth strategy, we’ve brought on these two high-quality people. They have track records of success and expertise in the industry. They have a lot to offer our team and we welcome them both.”
