Graduate of Emory University, University of Florida comes to Tampa of ice with strong business background

Tampa (June 23, 2022) – SVN Commercial Advisory Group has welcomed Deven Patel to its Tampa office as an Associate Advisor. Patel is working in a variety of commercial real estate markets, with a focus on storage and hospitality.

“I have a strong background in hospitality and its operational side because I grew up around it,” he said. “My work in the industry has provided me with a thorough understanding of the financials and how these businesses work.”

In addition, Patel brings diverse professional experience in banking, credit underwriting, and management of debt and equity.

After living most of his life in Florida, Patel moved to Atlanta to earn his MBA from Emory University. He also received a bachelor of finance from the University of Florida, and has held positions in finance for major companies in Atlanta, Indianapolis and Tampa.

This keen interest in business and finance came early for Patel, who grew up watching his entrepreneurial father acquire and run a number of establishments in the hospitality industry. “I kept on top of the deals and always had finance and business ideas running through my head,” he said. “So I completed a degree in finance and economics, worked at a bank, and gained an understanding of loans and what it takes to get them.”

After college, Patel joined a multifamily real estate developer, working with multimillion-dollar deals on the finance side.

He said that SVN Commercial Advisory Group was a draw because it enables him to work in more than one asset class and supports his interest in entrepreneurship.

“I prefer doing a little bit of everything and seeing where I can make the most impact,” Patel said. “I don’t like putting myself in any silo. Also, I wanted to go someplace that’s more entrepreneurial, and SVN gave me that opportunity. It offers more resources, framework and support than a small boutique shop could. It was the right fit for me.”
